After more than four months of development, a prototype was completed and displayed at the North American International Auto Show. In , Aston Martin debuted an electric concept version, the Rapide E. The production-ready model debuted in but was never series-produced. Design work on the Aston Martin Rapide began in under the guidance of Marek Reichman , whom Aston Martin appointed as lead design director in May.
