As a child, MEDINA's most vivid memories were of his schizophrenic mother during visitation hours in mental institutions where she was committed for kidnapping him and attempting to sell his brother. By the time MEDINA was 10, his mother's mental illness reached its tipping point, ultimately causing her to abandon him and his siblings and he never saw or heard from her again.

Recovering from such heart-wrenching trials takes more than a lifetime for most, but MEDINA's challenges continued as he downward spiraled into a street life filled with drugs and violence which lead to the murder of his best friend.
