But to accomplish what she did she had to face her fair share of obstacles too. Erica had a keen interest in piano from a very young age. She started playing piano when she was three years old. Her family consisted of very talented pianists and helped her develop her skills. She received a scholarship to attend Juilliard School.

The school had a program weekly and she traveled to New York City from Vermont. The first time she ever played in an orchestra was when she was just eleven years old.
